SMUD (Sacramento Municipal Utility District) is the nation’s sixth-largest community-owned electric service provider, providing low-cost, reliable electricity for more than 65 years to Sacramento County (and small adjoining portions of Placer and Yolo Counties). SMUD is a recognized industry leader and award winner for its innovative energy efficiency programs, renewable power technologies, and for its sustainable solutions for a healthier environment. SMUD is the first large California utility to receive more than 20 percent of its energy from renewable resources.
Hostetler Bakkie was fortunate to partner with SMUD for a 4 year span, in which time the marketing specialists in the Residential Department brought us on to develop this Interactive Energy Efficient House to drive their new Home Performance Program. This illustration was implemented into an online tool for their residential customer base to utilize. What we call our “EE House” which has been one of our most dynamic projects through the years, has also been the center of many other pieces that we have had the pleasure to create for SMUD. One being an informational booklet, and another, an installation piece that we designed specifically for their Energy Efficient Model House located inside their corporate location here in Sacramento.
